The name of God is mercy. – Pope Francis
To God, most gracious, most merciful… – Muslim prayers
The LORD is good to all: with tender mercies are over all God’s works. – Psalm 145:9

What does the Lord require—but to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God. – Micah 6:8
God’s streams of mercy will carry us through Lent, across the darkness of Holy Week, and on into the bright light of Easter morn. As we go, we are learning to believe that God’s mercy is for each of us, and all. And it is this mercy that emanates through us as we serve the needs of those in need—in Haiti, through Home Run for Kids, through our weekly contributions to the Westside Food Bank. Assurance of mercy. Acts of mercy. This is the rhythm of God’s great love for us in Christ Jesus. It is a conviction we hold in common with our Catholic, Jewish and Muslim brothers and sisters.
As Christians, we look forward to the birth of new life and hope, as “justice lingers into love,” as Charles Wesley puts it.
Let’s worship and pray and serve and fellowship together, that our rejoicing might be for marvelous healing and renewal in our hearts and in our world.
