The Magnitude of God’s Promise
Magnificent photos from the James Webb Space Telescope taken in July inspire our Advent theme this year. An image of a star-forming region in the Carina Nebula gleams with the bright light of star birth. The luminescent photo immediately brings to mind the familiar passage from Luke heard often in this Advent season as we are called into anticipation of the news of the birth of the Christ Child: “There will be signs in the sun, moon, and stars…”

What signs will we see in the magnificent star fields overhead? What signs will we see as we look around our world? What signs will we see in the faces of those we love? What signs will we see as Scripture and music open our hearts to the promise of this season?

“For Christ is born of Mary, and gathered all above, while mortals sleep, the angels keep their watch of wondering love. O morning stars together, proclaim the holy birth, and praises sing to God the King, and peace to all on earth.” – Phillips Brooks, “O Little Town of Bethlehem.”

May the wonder and joy of this season lift your spirits, restore your hope, and wrap you in the magnitude of God’s promise.
