On Sunday, we pick back up with the Letter to the Hebrews and reflections on God’s power working within and through us. God who, “by the power at work with us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine,” as we read in the Letter to the Ephesians.⠀ ⠀ Why don’t we take some time each day to breathe in that power, God’s power to bring us peace and focus our vision and our purpose? We will hear it in the passage Natalia will read for us, rehearsing the stories of the heroes and heroines of our faith. ⠀ ⠀ The letter goes on to say: “Yet all these, though they were commended for their faith, did not receive what was promised, since God had provided something better so that they would not, apart from us, be made perfect.” The story is open-ended. We are the next chapter. Now it’s our turn.⠀ ⠀ I look forward to worshiping with you.⠀ — Rev. And don't worry, coffee, juice, and pastries will be provided.⠀ #messychurchsantamonica #santamonicaumc #funinthesun #breakfastatthebeach #food #community As VBS wraps up today, we give thanks for Tricia Guererro, our staff and our 30 amazing volunteers, especially to the many youth and young adults who helped lead our VBS this year, choosing to dedicate some of their last precious summer days to make this possible for 42 kids, most all from the neighborhood around our church. What a gift!⠀ ⠀ This year's theme brought a space travel adventure for kids to explore where God’s power can take them. Along the journey, Voyagers discovered new realms of possibilities reaching for the stars and encountering the limitless love of God. ⠀ ⠀ That's the spirit of our reading from Hebrews for this Sunday's worship. God leads us forward by faith into new adventures and possibilities still to be dreamed and realized, bringing new power and hope to our lives and to the world.⠀ ⠀ I look forward to worshiping with you on Sunday.⠀ ⠀ — Rev.
