This Sunday we celebrate Palm Sunday, continuing our journey to Easter and the promise of God’s love found in Jesus Christ. Palm Sunday celebrates the start of Holy Week and is the remembering of Jesus’s entry into Jerusalem.
One of the special stories during Holy Week is when Jesus gathers his followers at Passover for the Last Supper. Jesus was Jewish, so Passover was a special time to remember. Remember the times of slavery and hardship. Remember how God set us free. Remember how God sustained and fed us in the desert. Remember that God is always with us.
During the Last Supper, Jesus asked his friends to remember him in a special way whenever they gathered in the future to share this meal. He wanted them to remember him as someone who shared God’s love. He wanted them to remember his dream for the renewal of the world.
As Jesus’ followers, we remember him and his dream at Holy Communion, which we will be celebrating this Sunday. When we take communion, we say “Yes” to our commitment to let God’s love take shape in our lives.
Online Worship this Sunday: Here is a great Holy Week Activity Packet for your kids this week. We will share in communion during our online worship this Sunday and we encourage your whole family to participate from home. Serve one another by holding the bread/cracker plate and the cup for one another. Take a piece of bread or cracker and dip it into the cup; eat and remember you are a beloved child of God. And keep an eye out for Grace the Puppet to make an appearance during the Children’s Message!
