Intercessory Prayer Group & Prayer Chain

“The practice of intercessory prayer is described as the most powerful way to heal divisions between people, an essential ingredient in community. Through intercession we see the other’s offensiveness through new eyes, because ‘…everything in him that repels us falls away, we see him in all his destitution and need. His need and his sin become so heavy and oppressive that we feel them as our own, and we can do nothing else but pray.’ Within community, intercession is every Christina’s responsibility and privilege…” – LONGING FOR SPRING by Elaine Heath & Scott Kisker
The Intercessory Prayer Group meets on two Mondays of each month off campus.
The Prayer Chain is a larger network of persons who pray in response to those who request prayers.
If you wish to be a part of the prayer group/prayer chain or request a prayer, please go to the Prayer Request page and fill out the contact form at the bottom of the page.

It requires some training and a limited time commitment for visitation and follow-up. If you are interested in participating in this ministry, please fill out the form below or call the church office (310) 393-8258.

Altar Guild

What, you may ask, is an Altar Guild? The focal area for worship in front of you is called the chancel area. It includes the pulpit on your left, the lectern on your right, the Table or Altar in the center. Behind the choir is the area known as the reredos on which the large candlesticks, flowers and cross are placed. Seasonal paraments made of beautiful cloth are placed on the Table, pulpit and lectern. The candlesticks, collection plates, and special items for communion, baptisms and holy days, such as Advent and All Saints must be prepared and placed appropriately.

The Altar Guild is a group of volunteers who prepare God’s house for worship in this way each week.
If you are interested in volunteering for this ministry (you can volunteer for one Sunday a month), please call the church office.
