An Afternoon of Choral and Organ Masterworks
Sunday, June 23, 4:00 p.m.
Don’t miss a special Guest Choir Concert with Dr. James Vail, featuring The Laudamus Te Singers, joined by members of our own First UMC choir, as they present Franz Schubert’s Mass in A Flat, for Choir, Soloists and Orchestra. The second piece of the evening, conducted by Dr. James Smith, is Francis Poulenc’s Concerto in G Minor, for Organ, Strings & Tympani, with Ty Woodward, organ.
The Laudamus Te Singers is a group of about thirty-five singers, formed in 2016 by Dr. Vail—mostly from choir members who have sung under his direction at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, Westwood, where he played the organ and conducted from 1969 to 2009, along with others. Now in their third season, the group presents just two concerts a year on the Westside—one in the fall and one in the early summer, each involving just two weekends of rehearsing and performing.
Spend your Sunday afternoon listening to beautiful music! A freewill offering will be taken.
Parking available in the underground garage across 11th St.
