Celebrating more than 70 years in Santa Monica, First United Methodist Church Preschool is a loving community composed of dedicated teachers, insightful parents, and adorable children.  It is here that adults and children alike, reach out to one another and develop friendships that last a lifetime. For many families, their children attending First UMC are third generation attendees who think of the school as their extended family.

Although young, the boys and girls meet many of the educational milestones through creative play, exploration, and teacher modeling. After building a solid foundation at First UMC Preschool, the children transition smoothly to kindergarten at both local public and independent schools.  It is truly amazing to watch their daily growth and development.

Instilling values, morals, and ethics is an important goal for our preschool children.  Gently and consistently, the teachers model common courtesies, positive attitudes, and sound judgement.  Individual differences are recognized and celebrated as children develop physically, mentally and emotionally.  Positive self-esteem is a critical component in every child’s development.

Parents partner with the teachers and administration to ensure there is a strong bond between home and the school community.  Children attend Chapel where values are taught through songs, stories, and prayers appropriate for their age.  Nutritious lunches and snacks are prepared on-site and served family style.

Welcome to the Preschool!
