About CAST

Children’s After School Theater (CAST), is a community program of First UMC. It fosters positive, imagination-inspired actions while building self-esteem through the arts for our children and youth. Unlike other theater programs, CAST upholds a three-fold vision and purpose at all times: 1) to foster personal growth and skill development in each young person, 2) to build a safe community of loving support, and 3) to put on a great show.

We celebrate that our CAST program is one of many places where children and youth have a space to come and learn about themselves, to safely grow and be challenged and to belong to one of many small communities within our larger church family. Our program is open to the children and youth in our church and in our wider community. Among other things, we have former Preschool families, and many of our CAST participants help with Vacation Bible School each summer.

CAST sessions are built around the school semesters following the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District calendar.

Visit the CAST Facebook page for news, events, and photos!

There is a $150 activity fee for each participant. Scholarships may be available.

Thank you to First UMC, its members, friends and family of C.A.S.T., and the community for keeping our beloved theater program alive since 2007.  And a special thank you to the Kiwanis Club of Santa Monica and Wesley Foundation of UCLA along with Richard Keagy for your continued support!
