Intercessory Prayer Group & Prayer Chain

“The practice of intercessory prayer is described as the most powerful way to heal divisions between people, an essential ingredient in community. Through intercession we see the other’s offensiveness through new eyes, because ‘…everything in him that repels us falls away, we see him in all his destitution and need. His need and his sin become so heavy and oppressive that we feel them as our own, and we can do nothing else but pray.’ Within community, intercession is every Christina’s responsibility and privilege…” – LONGING FOR SPRING by Elaine Heath & Scott Kisker
The Intercessory Prayer Group meets on two Mondays of each month off campus.
The Prayer Chain is a larger network of persons who pray in response to those who request prayers.
If you wish to be a part of the prayer group/prayer chain or request a prayer, please go to the Prayer Request page and fill out the contact form at the bottom of the page.

The First UMC Labyrinth

The Labyrinth laid in the Simkins Hall floor of First UMC Santa Monica is a replica of the Chartres Labyrinth laid in the cathedral around 1220 CE. Walking the Labyrinth is an ancient spiritual practice, a way to quiet our minds and open our spirits to the presence of the Holy. Every step a prayer.
